The competition brief for this project asked to accommodate two apparent opposing target groups, the elderly and the young, in one building complex. This raised the question how we can shape collectivity versus individuality. The two groups each have their own ideas and wishes regarding quality of living, privacy, rhythm, comfort and accessibility. But what also binds the two groups at the same time is the need for their own place (sense of belonging) and the need for a sense of collectivity and togetherness (community).
